About Engines & Margins

Engines & Margins is a science and technology publication and video series about the infrastructure behind modern technology: the chips, power systems, cooling, networks, buildings, and capital that make software-facing products like AI models actually work.

What we cover

Our focus is the physical and economic layer underneath the software headlines — data center power and cooling, semiconductor supply chains, energy infrastructure, hardware economics, and the businesses that build, finance, and operate the systems modern technology depends on.

How we work

Every article states its sources where a reliable one exists, and flags claims for verification when it doesn't. We do not publish fabricated statistics, invented credentials, fake testimonials, or claims about audience size, partnerships, or awards we haven't earned. See our editorial policy for the detail behind that.

Where we are today

This site is in an early phase: a small set of published articles, one interactive calculator, and a companion video series. We are not currently running advertising or analytics on this site — see our privacy policy for specifics.
