Data Center Revenue & Capacity Calculator
See how sellable capacity, utilization, price per utilized kilowatt, and interconnection revenue combine into illustrative data-center revenue — the model behind How Data Centers Actually Make Money.
Inputs
Default values are illustrative assumptions, not market benchmarks or financial advice.
Allowed range: 0–10,000,000
Allowed range: 0–100
Allowed range: 0–10,000
Allowed range: 0–1,000,000,000
How this is calculated
Capacity
Utilized capacity (kW) = Sellable capacity × (Utilization rate ÷ 100)
Unused capacity (kW) = Sellable capacity − Utilized capacityBase revenue
Monthly base revenue = Utilized capacity × Monthly price per utilized kW
Annual base revenue = Monthly base revenue × 12Interconnection revenue
Annual interconnection revenue = Monthly interconnection revenue × 12
Total revenue
Estimated monthly total revenue = Monthly base revenue + Monthly interconnection revenue
Estimated annual total revenue = Annual base revenue + Annual interconnection revenue
Displayed values are rounded for readability (for example, capacity in kW with an MW equivalent from 1,000 kW up); calculations use the exact values you entered. Prices are in USD.
Input validation and bounds
Every field must be a plain number within its stated range: sellable capacity 0–10,000,000 kW; utilization 0–100%; price 0–10,000 USD per kW per month; interconnection 0–1,000,000,000 USD per month. Empty, negative, non-numeric, or out-of-range values are flagged, never silently corrected, and no results or shareable link appear until every field is valid. Nothing you enter is sent to a server.
Shareable links
Once every field is valid and you have edited a value, the page address updates so you can share your scenario. The parameters are:
capacity— sellable capacity in kWutilization— utilization rate in percentprice— monthly price per utilized kW in USDinterconnection— monthly interconnection revenue in USD
Example: ?capacity=10000&utilization=75&price=150&interconnection=50000. If a link contains an invalid value, that field is shown as-is with an error and no results are calculated.
